Australia Offers Humanitarian Support for Vietnam
(MENAFN) Australia declared on Tuesday that it is contributing up to AUD$3 million (approximately $1.95 million) in humanitarian aid to Vietnam in response to the devastation caused by Typhoons Bualoi and Matmo.
The assistance package will encompass urgent relief materials, including kitchen sets, hygiene kits, and shelter repair toolkits, according to Foreign Minister Penny Wong in a joint declaration alongside Minister for International Development Anne Aly.
"We know the path to recovery will take some time, and as longstanding friends and partners, Australia stands with Vietnam in its time of need," Wong stated.
She added, "Australia will continue to work with Vietnam on immediate relief efforts and building disaster resilience."
The two typhoons inflicted extensive damage across Vietnam in late September and early October, resulting in over 80 individuals either dead or missing.
More than 200 residences were completely demolished, while another 169,000 suffered damage or loss of roofing.
In addition, thousands of hectares of farmland and aquaculture facilities were devastated, with over 180,000 livestock and poultry perishing due to the storms.
